I grew up in a
great Christian home being the youngest of four kids. We went to a
private Christian school, then began to be home schooled. My parents
were always very involved with us. They were very encouraging to us in
our sports and academics. When I was about fifteen years old, I had a
strong desire to play music and sing. I started with a fiddle that my
mom bought for me from a friend of ours. I had never been too
much into music before that, but I really fell in love with the fiddle
and bluegrass music. The more I played, the more I loved it. I met a
couple of families that played music together at church camps and
thought it would be so awesome to do the same thing someday with my own
family. We always went to church camps each year, and as a matter of
fact, it was at one of these church camps that I met Steve for the
first time. He was actually being inspired by the same families as I,
but he and I did not know each other yet. After a few more years of
church camps, friends introducing us, and him singing in a talent night
at one of those church camps, I knew he was my man. All my family and
friends also knew that this was of God! We married and had
“dreams” of someday playing music with our children
that
the Lord would hopefully soon give us. Ten months after our wedding,
our first child came (Alex) and the rest of our children pretty much
kept the same pace (one after another). Steve and I began to play and
write songs together, and the kids would just watch since they were too
young to truly be a part. As they grew, their desire came and they
joined us too! Now it seems unbelievable that God has given us so much.
Sometimes when we are playing at night with the family, Steve and I
will look at each other and just smile. Wow, God is awesome! He really
has given us the desires of our heart. We do have a blast together,
well most of the time. Don't get me wrong there are some tough days.
Raising seven kids, homeschooling, keeping the house clean and working
part time on our home based business does stretch me! This is when the
Holy Spirit comes and helps me though. I just want to encourage you to
follow what the Lord has in store for you, no matter what! If I can do
it, I know anyone can!
